In 2015 I made the decision to release my music as Scott Garred. After 20 years as Super XX Man, this simply felt right to do. I’m still telling stories and writing simple songs that are heartfelt and full of wonder. That much hasn’t changed. For now, I’m choosing to do this as me and not an alter-ego.

From 1996 to 2001 I led an inspiring and very loud pop band from Austin, TX called Silver Scooter. We recorded three great albums and released countless singles and compilation tracks. We went to Japan twice and navigated the U.S. at least 5 times. At the same time, I was writing and recording at home as Super XX Man, which is something that kept moving with me as I left Austin for Portland, Oregon in 2002 and again for Melbourne, Australia from 2011 to 2015.

When I moved to Portland in 2002, I became a music therapist. It has been a journey that paralleled my life as Super XX Man as well as today as a solo artist. I now live, work, and play in San Francisco, CA. I’m a loving dad and husband, as well as a music therapist working in mental health care.
